Shooting Untold Stories Lingerie - location photography for a London lingerie brand

Sometimes the brief is: give the people what they want.

Not every shoot needs a concept. Sometimes the brand has already done the work of knowing exactly who they are and what their world looks like, and the job is to step into that world and photograph it honestly.

Untold Stories is a lingerie brand built around softness, femininity, and a fairy-tale sensibility. The aesthetic is consistent and considered. Leaning into something deliberately different would have been the wrong call. The right call was to understand what makes the brand work and to find the most genuine version of that on the day.

We had access to a farm for the shoot, and the weather held. August afternoon light, open space, the kind of natural softness that you cannot manufacture in a studio. For a brand that trades in that register, location was not a logistical inconvenience. It was the whole point. The setting gave us a sense of freedom and space that the product needed around it.

Shooting on location as a lingerie photographer always comes with variables that a studio does not. Light changes, the ground is uneven, things that look straightforward in a recce look different on the day. What makes it work is preparation and the ability to adapt quickly when something shifts. Raluca, who works alongside me on shoots, is particularly good at that. The willingness to move fast and problem-solve on location without losing the feel of the shot is something that only comes from doing it repeatedly.

The deliverable was a clean set of stills for the brand to use across their channels, with some simple video alongside it. No overcomplicated edit, nothing that drew attention away from the product. The principle is simple: know what the brand needs and deliver it with professionalism. The most impressive thing you can do for a client is make the process feel effortless and hand them content that is immediately usable.

The response confirmed that the work landed. The brand was happy with the results, and subsequently asked Raluca to model for their swimwear collection. That is what happens when a shoot becomes a relationship rather than a transaction. A single job, done well, became an ongoing collaboration.

That is what a good shoot is supposed to do.
